Ceramic and Metal Toucan
Broken beaks are a problem, but not for Jeff! When he received this ceramic and metal Toucan, the beak was obviously just glued on. Gluing the piece yourself is never advised as it results in twice as much work for professional restoration. Jeff needed to cut open this sculpture to properly restore it from the inside out.

Before
This Before picture shows the broken beak and the DIY glue attempt to fix it.

The area under the beak had to be cut out, which allowed it to be cemented and reinforced from the inside out.

To make the beak stay on, the cut-out area was cemented, patched and sanded several times to a smooth finish.

The beak was reattached and ready to paint.

After
Jeff’s client requested more vibrant colors. The completed, colorful Toucan with added details in the bird's eyes pleased his client.
