RESTORATION PROCESS

The four-foot paper mache Parrot was severely damaged when its family moved through the years. 

Its head was crushed.

It also had damage to the body and wings.

Jeff was eager to help the family restore their bird back to its original, colorful beauty.

Picture 5 shows the outside edge of the tail that was cemented, patched and sanded.

Picture 6 shows the inner edge of the same tail area as in Picture 5.

After the patching, sanding and prep work, the Parrot was ready for the next restoration phases.

The feather detailing needed to be drawn in before painting.

The tail was repainted and restored to exactly match the original color details.

Here's a view of the restored underside of the tail.

This picture shows the side edge of the tail completely restored. All the fine-line detailing is back to its original finish.

The top of the Red-Headed Parrot again exemplifies Jeff’s precise attention to details and restoration techniques.

The completely repainted and restored surfaces match the Parrot’s original finish. The sculpture is like new, and its owners are happy with the beautiful result!
